Oil recomendations 700 1988

Hey guys, just wondering, today i was driving in 2nd gear for about 10minutes sitting on about 5000rpm. What effects does that have on the B230F. Also at the moment it is using 20 - 50W oil and has regular oil changes every 5000kilometres, which when the 5K is up, it is still full on the dipstick, like it hasn't used any oil. It has done to be exact 294584Km and doesn't use any oil whatsover, does anyone else experience the same???? and would it be a wise idea to step up to 25 - 60W for longer life or keep going with what I have been????

BTW - Sorry for asking a stupid question, I'm just too curious for my own good!!!!
