AW70 O/D RELAY? 200 1988

My daughter and her car are on other coast... She called me yesterday, saying she was on the Interstate and the yellow o/d arrow was now on, the engine was racing and she couldn't get the arrow to go off no matter how much she pushed the shift lever button.

Looks to me like the typical o/d relay problem. I suggested she shut the ignition off and restart, thinking the yellow arrow would go off and she could be on her way. But the arrow stayed on an the car remains in third gear tops.

If the relay is removed, will the car lock-in or lock-out of o/d? Thought of that as a temporary fix until we get another relay or get this one soldered. Am trying not to think that it might be the o/d solenoid ($$) itself that has shelled out. I know, it could also be the wiring or a ground. But thought I'd chase down the relay possibility first since I'm not there to look closely.

Thanks, Robert
