SHIFTER 900

The shifter that wouldn't shift out of park, without the shifter overlock, and then wouldn't shift into park after NTW's use, is now shifting to all gears without the overlock and when the engine is on or off, with the help of a piece of paper jamming the shifter part that was jamming the shifter, in an upward position, allowing free movement.
The microswitch was tested and no juice was shown. Would I be damaging anything if I continued to drive like this, or do I need to change the microswitch?
