I reverse back, turn wheel, take off, and after about 1 second, 'clunk' bad metallic sounding 700 1988

I have recently started hearing this clunk, i've had something similar before, but never this bad, it sounds like it's coming from the diff. I've had the universals done, i've got a new centre bearing and holder in my garage. the old one needs doing. But for some reason (twice today) i've heard a loud "clunk" or more of a "TINK" when taking off, just after you start moving, from reversing out of a parking spot. I mean, it's pretty loud, it makes me cringe everytime i hear it it sounds that bad. I think it may have been more a left-side noise than a right side, as stupid as that sounds. I've had the universal replaced and now, still, when i let my clutch out quickly and then put it in quickly i hear noticable "clunk", like "looseness" in the diff, likewise with reverse. It's worse when going first-reverse-first-reverse. It's quite obvious and sounds like it has alot more play than it should.... could that be part of my problem? The car has only done 215,000k's...... only.... but everything else is in great condition. Any help appreciated folks!
