Bumping Suspension at 5 mph 200 1987

Hello Fellow Volvoites,

I was test driving with intent to purchase a 245 ('87) and at 0 to 5 mph, a violent bumping came from underneath. The noise/vibration went away at speeds greater than 5 mph. It sounded like I was driving over speed bumps spaced every foot. When braking, a serious shuttering noise occurred. I am pretty sure it was not the rubber center support on the driveshaft but not 100%. The owner said something about the strut but I have never had a bad strut so I don't know the symptoms. Any thoughts?
