80' 245 dl loss of power 200

I recently bought this car at a dealership in the northwest (my second volvo). Very clean (almost too clean- pressure washed), no rips in the apolstery, 90k. Absolutely creempuff.

Driving down the freeway and sudden loss of power, shifting down on a slight incline. I pull off the freeway and just make it to the gas station, in a pouring cold rain. No tools, you get the picture...

I walk to my ex wifes and borrow her boyfriends tools and pull off the filter and its got gas when I hit the starter. Its getting dark and I see a spark off the coil. I leave it and come back for it the next morning and its towed. I go get it and I try to start it after paying close to $200 and it starts but now the catylitic is loud as hell. I take it down to get it replaced and watch the mechanic drive it on the ramps and back off. I pay another $135 and get out to the car and it wont start. I feel the plenum and its hot.

Oil was a little low, Filter and fluid should be changed in the tranny (old), maybe tighten the bands. When I turn the key I can hear the pump. I had two fuses out and now my heater fan works.

Trouble is, I don't want to spend another grand finding out how to fix the trouble. I havent found the fuel pressure relay yet. I just got the Haynes manual and feel like I will need about two weeks of study before I can handle troubleshooting this brangle.

I am really worked up about this one.
