'87 745 from MN to TX: George Downs AND 30+ mpg?! :-) 700 1987

Ooohh, I am getting too old to drive from Minneapolis to San Antonio in a couple days. But two treats worth mentioning to all:

1. George Downs, the pushrod man, the Panama Dude, the palare de Espana (whatever!) on Brickboard... gave me a warm welcome when I knocked on his door (I'm old enough to know better about that too!) in Bartlesville, OK. Showed me his cars, his garage... his generosity. Thanks, George, for your welcome, and for your participation on Brickboard.

2. My '87 745 got 30+ mpg, apparently. I thought I got a goofy gas pump or did my math wrong the first time it happened. The next time I smiled big time. This was after a couple years of 20-22 mpg urban-suburban driving on Minnesota ethanol-laced piss gas. I had no idea the baby could do it! Uh, yeah, this old fart drives at about 2500 rpm, or between 60-65 mph, which helps a lot, as well as no head winds.
