Blown Fuses #2 and #8 (85 740 GLE Turbo DIESEL) 700 1985

Blown fuese #2 and #8 keep failing. Here's what informationn I can give you at this time, really haven't had time to trace the wiring circuits or do any real trouble shooting at this time. Car is sitting until the weekend when I hope to find some time to work on it. Any advice that might speed-up where to start looking for the problem would be greatly appreciated.

Got in the car the other day and the power windows central door locks and turn signals were not working. Found fuses #2 and #8 blown.

Fuse #8 -- Power windows.
Replaced this fuse, turned the ignition to position II and the windows work just fine. Fuse #8 DID NOT blow. Then installed fuse #2 and door locks worked for a while but then blew fuse #2. Left fuse #8 installed turned off the ignition and went to investigating fuse #2 circuit.

Fuse #2 -- Central Locking, Hazards and headlight flashers.
This fuse blows after about 30 to 40 seconds after being replaced. You can lock and unlock doors a few times (fuse still ok) and then wait 20 to 30 seconds and the fuse will blow. Fuse blows both with the doors locked or unlocked.

I was in the FAQ's and found the picture of the relays. Problem is that in the picture it shows a relay for the Central Locking as the second relay from the left on the row closet to the fuses. When I remove this relay (stick the fuse in quickly) the door locks still work. In fact one at a time I pulled each relay, reinstalled the fuse and the door locks still worked. IS there a relay somewhere else for the door locks on no relay at all?

Car is a 740 GLE TURBO DIESEL so there is no Injection System relay and some other relays form the picture are not there also, just thought I'd mention that if for some reason the relay configuration might be different for the diesel model.

I have both a digital and an analog VOM.

Seeing that both 2 and 8 were blown my first guess would be in the wiring going into one of the doors, specifically the drivers door.

I have some of the Volvo green books, BUT of cours not the electrical system/wiring diagrams. I'll be looking for theforms and phone number this weekend and will be doing that next week.

Thanks
Gutzy 85 740 GLE Turbo DIESEL
