I have a '92 960 wagon that I sometimes can't get out of park due to the shift lock not releasing. I've read the FAQ on this subject and they refer to a microswitch. I dissassembled the console and found the shift lock solonoid but there is no micro switch on the sheft lever mechanism. There is obviously a switch somewhere (neutral safety switch ?)since I can hear a relay click when I shift in and out of park and neutral. There is power going to the shift lock solonoid only when this relay is on in park and neutral. Where is this switch?? I suspect it is the culprit since most of the time when I shift from reverse to park there is a delay of a couple of seconds before the previously mentioned relay clicks. There is no such delay going into neutral. Any help would be much appreciated.
