Need help on radio light 700 1988

The light on my factory radio display won't stay on. So I can't see what station i'm listening to. After I eject a cassette tape it works then will fade out.I'm figuring it's a switch which turns the display off when you insert a cassette. Does anyone have any ideas on this? Where is the switch located inside the radio ect. Any advise greatly appreciated!!!!
