Putting Turbo 700 Series Engine into 240GL? How Tough a job? 200

I'm interested in placing a blown engine into my '86 240GL Wagon. Based on the Smog laws in California, I can only put an '86 or newer engine into my chassis with complete air pollution control equipment moved "as a system" into the older chassis.
How easy is it to place a 700- (or 900-?) series Turbo engine into my chassis?

Specifics:

1) Are mods to the wiring harness needed?

2) Will 700 series tranmission bellhousing clear the "tunnel" or can I reused my 240 automatic?

3) Are engine mounts the same, or do I need custom units?

Anyone have firsthand experience of this swap?

I like the idea of the power and simplicity of a smallblock Ford, but I don't really care for all that weight in the nose so the Volvo turbo seems the happy compromise.

Is it really just a better deal to unload my '86, and buy a 240 Turbo Wagon, then maintain/modify as needed?

Thanks

Brian
