rear door lock woes 700

Luck for me my door panel is off at the moment. I was fixing my door handle as the roll pin that goes into it and the lock release had come out, making the door only open from the inside. After fixing it, I notice that the door knob release arm that goes to the locking mechanism unlocks only with great resistance if I grab it and push it rearward . The rod flexes a great deal and pops out the plactic clips that are supposed to keep it from doing this. It won't unlock using pulling up on the release knob. But it does lock and unlock with the driver's door central locking. Should I remove the entire lock mech and lubricate it, or buy another? The opposite rear door lock and unlocks effortlessly. Is there any adjustment possible?
