Jordan,
Has the main instrument panel been taken out for any reason? I had a loose connection from having my trip odometer repaired. The loose "bar" of wires was grounding out intermitantly a year later. That grimlin was found out of exasperation. If the mechanics are no good there, check with an auto electric person. Another shot in the dark. Could the distributor be arching on the firewall? Loose alt.ground wire? Voodoo Pygmies? Good luck. Hang in there you'll find it!
