Speedo- works, Odo- doesn't . . . . 200 1991

Hi All,

On the way home from the office this PM, I thought I'd get to see another "roll-over" on the old odometer, but it seemed to hang up on 201,999. In fact the "nines" have already started to rotate . . . . but they've stopped midway.

I'm assuming that there's a mechanical problem inside the unit--that if it were the feed from the rear axle, the speedo- would also be "Nikes up."

Is this something that is fixable at home, or does the unit need to go off to a shop that specializes in VDO magic? While I may have a spare unit in the garage, I kinda hate to lose 60K miles of history (or more).

Thanks in advance!
