overdrive..mine is toast 200 1983

The overdrive in my 83 245 stopped working. I get no, limited, engine braking and no drive ( it remains 1:1). For example I drive along at 50 mph in 4th engage overdrive no drop in rpm, however if I lift of the trottle I get an immediate 500 rpm drop. I checked all the electrics and everything works. I changed the fluid about 10K miles ago ( yes I did use type F). I drained it and was only a few ounces low. The fluid was cloudy and brownish, although it did not smell burnt. There was only a little fuzz on the magnet. So i'm thinking I have toasted all the friction material.

Any one have a source for a rebuild kit. I see IPD has a mini kit with all the o-rings and gaskets, but I did not see hard parts or wear parts. Any idea what a rebuilt unit would cost. I really have no I dea how many miles this car has. I'm the third owner. the PO did not replace the speedo cable when it broke at 129 k. He had it for a few more years and said he only drove it to work (about 3 miles). Most things had been serviced at the dealer.

Here are the questions:

1: Is the OD finished?
2: Should I just grab another at Pick-n-Pull and swap it in?
3: Should I grab one and Pic-n-Pull and rebuild it my self and then swap it in?
4: Should I just buy a rebuilt? or
5: Should I swap in a M47?

Thanks
