92 960 block serial number 900

Hello again. I have owned 11 Volvos. Just purchased 92 960 wagon. I enjoy is car very much but the posts on problems are a real dissappointment and next time
I will do my research befor I buy. I do my own repair and maintence which on previous volvos problems were few and far between - even the v6.

The cylinder head has casting numbers indicating 91 so I expect it to be original. The serial number of the car is 05671, The number on this block
is 15104. It consumes 1 qt of oil every 500 miles or so. Oh I almost forgot to
mention it has 165,000 miles on it.

Does the engine number usuall match the cars serial number?
If the block has been changed, what year is it from?

Thanks all.

Rod
