My brick hates warm restarts... 700 1986

Car is 1986 740 Turbo with B230 engine.
It starts well when cold. When warm, like when doing errands
on Saturday, it will not start after 3 - 4 restarts.
If I walk away from it, and come back much later, it starts right up.
Once started, it will run and perform flawlessly.
I suspect some electronic component. But, if it is faulty, why isn't it
failing while car is running ? Only warm starts are problematic.
