clear rear wagon lenses and LED marker and tail lights 200 1981

has anyone heard of taking a heat gun to the red and yellow lenses on a 245? I heard it will burn the color off and leave the lenses clear, not totally clear but white. also i wont to convert my car to LED tail lights and marker lights. has any one ever done this and if so how did you do it?
