Problems with Drum brakes 444-544 1960

Hello. I have a 1960 PV544. I replaced both front wheel cylinders and I bled the entire brake system and I get firm pedal after traveling 3/4 of the way down on the pedal. I did adjust both front and rear brakes so that they are touching the brake drums but not dragging on the drum. I did bleed the system and got all the air bubbles out. I checked the system for any signs of wear or leaks and found none. I don't think the Master Cylinder is at fault because I get a solid, hard pedal feel once the pedal is 1/4 away from the floor. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I could try next?

I don't think I have the shoes on back wards because the shoes are exactly alike in every way. Also, the pins measured exactly the same length. I read somewhere that there was a difference in bore sizes and that the older style wheel cylinders had a 7/8" bore while the newer ones have a 1" bore. I think this is the case here because that would explain why the pedal has to travel such a long way before the wheel cylinders are compressed out. If this is the case, any ideas as to how to solve the problem? Perhaps a larger master cylinder would be in order. Or maybe not...

I did have pretty firm pedal before I changed the wheel cylinders. I changed them because I noticed the right front one was leaking so I decided to fix it before the problem got worse.
