Do I need any large metric sockets or wrenches?

In general, no. You don't need too many big wrenches. In actual fact, why not? I had occasion to work on some (non-Volvo) stuff that required big tools. The 56mm combination wrench makes a great conversation piece, the one inch drive sockets up to 75mm make sure that my tool shed will never blow away.
