New 122s owner looking for a little advice... 120-130 1965

You might want to see about your fuse box. They tend to get tarnish
(nonconductive film) between the laminations that makes the red light
come on whenever you turn something on. I've seen new ones offered.
What I did was to drill out the rivets, sand all the surfaces shiny,
put screws in place of the rivets and solder the whole mess together.
This is NOT a 15 minute job but it seems to solve that problem permanently.
There are lots of connections that seem to lose their conductivity. Scraping
down the tabs and pinching the faston connectors with pliers to make them
tighter seems to help a lot.
Over half of my nonfunctioning lights had good bulbs but corroded terminals,
usually in the socket. Appropriate scraping solved those problems also.

How are your floors? I was surprised to see a geyser in front of my passenger
seat, under the floormat one rainy day in Panama. I ended up replacing
all of them eventually, using 16 gauge sheet arn. The biggest problem in
welding them in was that I had started wearing bifocals since I had done
much gas welding. Water comes in around the windshield, gets under the
rubber floormat and soaks the fiber matting underneath. As it ferments, it
becomes acid and rusts the floor through from the inside.

IPD sells bushing kits. It is a fair amount of work to put them in but
well worthwhile.
