More starter questions 200

I'm getting my keyboard greasy in the midle of work here, i'm about to search the brick archives but i thought i'd post my question. My car wont start, baterry is charged, starter doesnt even kick in... so i look to find the solenoid sitting half out of the starter.... i'm assuming it seats in all the way and none of the little pron thing than spins is supposed to be visible.. Question one - what should i do to find the right sized bolts assuming i'm afraid to actually disconnect the solenoid?.. or would large amounts of duct tape be a horrible idea to keep it seated? Question two - i've got a bunch of bare wires around there.. the big red one that goes to the battery looks ok, and there seem to be two blue and yellow ones going to the same connectoer, one of which is bare. Theres a few more wires connected i beleive, its kind of a brake fluid soaked mess (replaced the master cylinder a few days ago)... well anyway, the solenoid doesnt turn and i hear a spark wehn i try to start it AND theres a nut attached to the solenoid with a little bunch of shredded wire on it that is not connected to anything.. Is this the ground?? if so, it would be fine to just re-ground it? i cant trace the harness back enough to check the connections at the firewall (amateur, yes)..... but any help would be really really appreciated, one more day without my precious volvo could be disaterous.
