forged or cast

The B230s have a cast crankshaft, cast pistons, and forged connecting rods. The K block version of the B230 was introduced as a running change early in the 1988 model year. The K block has the larger main bearings and thrust bearing on the fifth main bearing. As a running change early in the 1989 model year, Volvo upgraded the connecting rods to 13mm from 9mm. Either late in the 1993 production, or early in the 1994 production, Volvo introduced piston oil cooling in the B230 series.

B23s are widely available from wrecking yards. Where are you?
