WHAT GRADE/TYPE OF OIL TO USE?

With all due respect to Paul, I don't think I'd use a synthetic in your car. There are countless horror stories about people who change to synthetics and find it is so slippery, it leaks out the seals. Happened to me with a lot less miles (wear) on my engine. Looked like the Valdez was parked in the driveway. I prefer a good name brand straight 30, such as Valvoline, but a multi weight (10/30) is supposed to be okay so long as it doesn't set for a lengthy period. Personally I'd stay away from Pennzoil and Quaker State. Too much build up internally. Brand loyalty is fine, and any brand name oil will more than fill the requirements of a daily driver. Filters such as NAPA, Wix, and Mann are the better ones, avoid the cheapies from the discount parts houses.

You will quickly find everyone here has an opinion on things such as this (oil, filters, plugs, tires, and other disposable's). This is my personal opinion, having 17 licensed vehicles in the yard (all driven daily). Only one will get synthetic oil, my brand new GM pickup, and only once it gets 10,000 miles on it. Then it will get Mobil 1.

Leonard
