Question about a fuel injector pressure gauge. 200

I bought a fuel injector pressure guage from shucks for $43 built for GM, Ford 'and others'. The 'and others' part means you have to stick it inline somewhere. I found a spot near the distributor between the fuel pressure regulator and what my haynes calls a 'frequency valve'.

When I turned the engine over I got zip pressure. NADA-nothing. I pressed the bleeder valve and had gas running out the tube 'into the reseviour'. Can I trust this reading? Do I go out and buy a new fuel pump? I pulled the fuses for the intank pump and the main pump made a hell of a noise. I pulled the main pump fuse and it instantly died.

If this sounds right, does anyone know where to find a main fuel pump for a '80 245 DL for something under $225 US?

Incidently, I fiddled around with the setup until it warmed up and died. Any ideas?
