M46 won't go in gear, why not?

I replaced the clutch cable on my 81 240 DL, topped the M46 with Type F fluid and adjusted the cable every which way bus loose (ok, I also did loose). I'm guessing the next step is replacing the clutch/beating/seal/pressure-plate. Before I do... Is there possibly anything else I'm overlooking/haven't tried yet?

These are the symptoms: Will not engage into the gears with the clutch. I can start the car in first (or reverse) and then shift with the sincros into the other gears.

Any ideas would be appreciated, as well as experience.

Thanks!
