Traded one idling problem for another 200 1989

Started with poor idle/stalling when restarting a warmed-up car after 10 min. finally got a fault code for bad signal to or from AMM. E-tested all aspects of AMM, all were good. Took it in for an induction service/soak of throttle body. replaced fouled plugs after procedure. Ran worse, figured out idiot mechanic forgot to hook throttle switch back up. Switch adjusted correctly. But...now it has an additional problem: it stutters at idle, but doesn't stall. still idles poorly in first situation described (hot start), but doesn't stall. I can't figure it out. i'm thinking its the ar control valve? I'll try the test, but its raining now. any other ideas?
thanks,
abe
