Just my Luck- Now the temp gauge approached the red!!! 200 1985

Well, I was driving today in the rain and at a stoplight I noticed steam rolling out of the hood. Temperature gauge looked normal. Pulled over anyways and investigated. Seemed as though rain water got on the engine and was turning into steam so I kept driving. Then I went into the theather and came out about 2 hours later. On the 15 minute drive home I peered down to see the temp. gauge right below the red area. When I got home, opened the hood and the engine didn't feel like it was that hot. The upper rad. hose was not scalding or anything but I did notice that the reservoir was empty so I will add some coolant tommorrow. The odd thing is that the radiator was replaced and system pressure tested 10,000 miles ago (at 95,000). I'm just kind of worried about this but we'll see what the coolant does. Thanks.
