Diagnosing Wiring? Connectors? Switches? ... 200 1987

Hello folks:

I have an '87 240 DL wagon. Recently a few odd electrical things have begun to happen intermittently. I'd like to do some troubleshooting this weekend; can anyone point me in the right direction(s)??

- the tailgate window heater (the one embedded in the glass) comes on by itself, a few minutes after the car's been started.

- the engine doesn't shut off when I "off" the key. The first time this happened, after switching the key back and forth from on to off several times with no effect, I removed my foot from the brake pedal and *then* the engine shut off. This is a manual transmission and it was in reverse at the time.

- the battery sounds like it's struggling a little bit more than usual while cranking the engine. This is very subtle and might just be my imagination, but I don't think so.

Many thanks,
Jeff
