octane vs costs 900 1994

My 94, 965 has 10.7 compression (according to manual) with 78K miles. I have been using 89 octane for over 2+ years no noticeable problems, either Chevron or Texaco. Once a year I add BG44K. Manual states "premium 91+" - my question: since this engine has a knock sensor, which I assume retards the timing so no engine damage would occur. Is the 91+ worth the extra .10 per gallon ?? Is there any "real" performance/runability/gas mileage difference ??. I know warm/hot weather exacerbates any knocking tendencies. BTW, I believe in Abe's Italian tune-ups. So far NO problems.....Thanks for any input/advice.
