Paging Garrett Turbo Experts---Lots of Oil Blowby 200 1985

Is my turbo gonna blow!?
I have had an increase in oil blow-by (evidenced in intercooler pipes). Does this damage the engine too as it sucks oil into the throttle-body!? Currently no smoke from exhaust. Boost is OK. Some noise, but hard to isolate (some clanging at 3K rpm).
It is a Garrett turbo on my '85 244 GLTi. I have read some archives about leaky seals on these turbos, and the mild oil leakage. The blow-by I am having just seems to be way too much (intercooler hoses saturated). Is is worth the time to pull the turbo and pick it apart? Have not checked oil return lines yet.
Are turbo rebuilds worth it? I hate to replace one since the bolts around the exhaaust manifold tend to break and create a living hell. The cost is hellish too, esp when you want to sell the car anyway.
I just want to sell the car at this point, but don't want to pass this problem to an unsuspecting (unknowlegeable buyer)....or should I sell it as is?

Thanks for all the help!!
