Anybody ever used cotter pins on Girling brakes? 200

I bought new caliper hardware kits for the front Girling calipers.
The little clip that holds the long pins in the caliper will hit against the dust boots. I'm wondering if anyone has tried to use cotter pins to avoid contact with the dust boots. I'm not sure the hole in the pin would be large enough for a cotter pin to fit into it. Any tricks to keeping the clip from contacting the dust boots, or should I not be concerned about that?

Thanks...!

DeWayne
