Interior quietness of the 240 vs. 65 Ford Galaxy 200 1993

I hadn't paid any attention to this until the question came from a friend riding in my 93 240 sedan. While I consider the car to be a fairly quiet ride, he pointed out that at 60 mph the engine is audible inside the car. Kind of a soft drone sound, not objectionable really, but noticeable I guess. I'm thinking this is normal. He said that his 65 Ford Galaxy is quieter inside. OK, now I'm wondering. Should this car be even quieter? Outside the car, the tailpipe note seems fairly quiet. Certainly doesn't sound like a blown muffler to me. Sounds normal I'd say. But, maybe at highway speed a deteriorating muffler might sound this way on the inside of the car??? Anbody want to comment on this one? I've not ridden in another 240 sedan so I can't compare either. That 65 Ford comment really got me.
