adventures in oldtimer land 140-160 1970

Oh, I meant to say:
Call the dealership. If they don't give you what you want to
hear call smith volvo (I am sure there are other dealerships
out there as well). They still seem to have lots of cool parts
for completely reasonable prices. Like a brand new brake booster
for a 164 for $350 or so, which is a lot but I need a spare and
haven't seen a 164 in a junk yard in months, and I bet it would
be much more expensive for a 740. Or a new shifter boot for $14.
They even had all the parts necessary to completely rebuild an
M400/M410 transmission, though they were a bit expensive at $650,
most of which was 4 syncros which probably aren't all worn out.

So, call the dealership. Sometimes they are cheaper than the
alternative and faster too. The near-by dealership was useless
to me and that soured me on them, but I'll be calling slo next
time I've got a parts question, probably just after I call the
local napa or "import auto supply" just to see the prices.

They said they also still sell fiche sets and the green books
too. So off I go.
