AW-71: Strange noise when accelerating hard. 700 1988

Hi there!
This is my first post, though I've been getting very useful tips from you guys for some time now.
I drive a 1988 780 with the thisty PRV-V6 engine and the workhorse AW-71 tranny.
Some days ago I've noticed a strange transmission noise if I "slam" throttle down when stopped ( i.e. hotrod kind of thing at traffic lights ), otherwise the transmission shifts fine, even when kick-down is activated.
The transmission fluid has recently been changed and I had never heard that noise before the change. Also my mechanic adjusted de kick-down cable. Could this have something to do with it?
The noise is a loud metallic "kkrrrrr" that lasts for about half a second.

Should I start digging the grave for the tranny or is there hope?

Please help!
