D-Jetronic Differences 1800 1971

This is a 71 1800e with D-Jet FI. I'm using a fuel pump from a 1975 164e (two ports vs 3 ports on the 1800e)and it seems to be working fine. I'm also using the two outlet fuel pressure regulator found on the 71 1800e. Now, the car starts and runs fine for like 10 minutes or so and it suddenly and gradually dies completely. Starts back up and it seems to run ok again, but same thing all over. There is a sort of a loud humming noise coming from the fuel filter as if it's clogged, but I checked it and is good. Does anyone knows or seen this problem before. Timing is good, and all the electronic are well in place. I'm thinking about changing the pressure regulator to a 164e with 3 outlets, but I don't know where on the fuel rail is mounted on. I know the 164e mounts right in the middle of the rail (6 injectors). I think the 72 1800e pressure regulator sits on top of the rail, and if anyone can direct me to a diagram, I could probably set it up the same way. Maybe this will cure the problem, but I don't know if this is it. Thanks to all for the valuable help I've received.
