Door speaker replacement 200 1992

Reading other posts about upgrading stereo got me to thinking about doing it on my 92 wagon.

Buuuuut...can I get the speaker grilles off without pulling the door panels? OK, if I have to, I can--I've done it enough times on my 80. But handling the panels is hard on them--underneath they're really nothing but cardboard. If I could avoid pulling them for this one job I'd sure like to.

And once I do get the speakers out, does anyone have suggestions for replacement speaker brand/model# that will fit with the standard grilles and cutouts? I'd like to keep it looking more or less stock.

Meanwhile, the rear door speakers...The covers pop right off but the speakers have some stupid crimped-on fasteners. If I drill them out, will I be able to fasten new speakers from the front (sheet metal screws? drywall fasteners? small Molly bolts?) without taking *those* door panels off too?

Thanks for any help you can give.

Doug Harvey
