Water pump catastrophe continues!

When I was installing one of the bolts in the water pump to hold it against the engine block it felt as though it was about to strip, so I backed the bolt out thinking the bolt might have incorrect thread pitch and tried the original bolt, as I was tightening down the original bolt it felt the same way like it was getting tighter then all of sudden it was a little looser. So to make a long story short that bolt wasn't torqued to the same torque as the other bolts on the water pump. Will this cause me unforeseen problems and is there an easy fix without having to get a tap and die?
