New pads required for new rotors? 900

This is probably a stupid question. Do I really have to put new pads when I install new rotors? I replaced my pads recently (3 months ago) with PBR pads from ipd. It turned out they were not the problem. The rotors are. Should I throw them (the pads) out or can they be reused with the new rotors?
