brake lights just died fuse ok ? 700 1988

740 turbo wagon, everthing was fine then all brake light went out. fuse ok but tried new one anyway still nothing check wire diagram but didn't complete my 4 yr electrical degree so it looks like chinese too me. please help can't afford volvo mechanics prices or would have new volvo not a 88
