My odo is going around again. But not the trip. 200 1986

I built a small mold to make the planetary gear for my odometer. I then shot approx. 12 gears and used one of them to replace the one that was in there with a tooth missing. I then took a short drive and my odometer seem to be clocking off miles correctly about 6 miles but the trip clocked off (.2) miles. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what is wrong? Realy I am glad to see the odo changing I have been looking at 140528 since I bought the car 16 months ago.
