Mysterious Toggle Switch in a 245 200 1983

I recently purchased a 1983 245 turbo wagon and in one of the blank spaces by the rear defer and hazard switches is a metal toggle switch and the plate behind it has an arrow pointing up to the word PODDIG and an arrow pointing down to the word MOTOMATIC. I was told this was a option that was put on when the car was built. I do not know if it was a factory option or if it is a add on and mostly I do not know what it does. If you could help me out with it I would be greatly appreciate it.

Thanks, Jesse
