89 740 oil everywhere, help! 700

The flame trap was completly clogged when I got the car, the vacuum port was also clogged. But now 50 miles later I'm showing oil all around valve cover again. I've changed oil fill cap gasket and will change valve cover gasket, however it apears to be new. Next step may be a compression check. But like I said the car feels strong.
