1990 760 turbo headlights, do these things come off? 700 1990

Hello Duff:

These things are a PITA to take apart-- the danger is that you will break either the adjuster mechanism or the housing, both of which become brittle over time.

If memory serves me correctly, the ball cages that fit between the adjuster and the housing are about $3 apiece at the dealer, and there are 3 per headlight. I think you can access both top ones without dismantling everything. What I did was to carefully cut both the top ones with a wire cutter and then gently pull out the bottom one. Then I replaced all three with new ones. They've been good ever since...

The main thing is not to use too much force-- take your time with them!
