How to tackle positive tension screw(bolt) of alternator? 700 1990

How to release and set tension?Do you release the bolt first or the nut holding the bolt sideway along its length?Are there any sites with pictures of this procedure.The Haynes book does not deal with the 1990 740 GL.
Just changed the 3xalternator bushings,car initially quieter but soon returned to normal noise pitch despite belt dressing spray,looks like time for new belts!!!!
