Starts good, bad idle, runs good on road and DIES - Repeat! 200 1983

1983 245GL w/auto. Starts great cold or hot, runs fine for 20 seconds and then the rough idle starts. Things smooth out at about 1700rpm. It has been doing this for about 6 weeks with no other problems. In the past few days we have started an intermitent engine shutdown for 2-5 seconds (seems like "limp-home mode") at freeway speed. Tonight that turned into total engine shutdown. I pull over, it restarts just fine and off I go.

So far, I have cleaned the fuel injectors and replaced the seals, replaced plugs, cap and rotor and air control valve.

I'm suspecting a short somewhere...(sigh)
