rough riding and check engine light 900

Hello all
Here is my latest woe.
Since I did the valve job on my 92 960, the check engine light is always on. Also, if the key is on, but the car is not running, I can hear a clicking from behind the radio whenever I touch the brakes. Also, at about 60 mph in drive, the car begins to run very sluggishly, and it loses a lot of power. This also happens if I put I put it down in a lower gear. It is fine up to about 2500-3000 rpm, then this kicks in. I have driven it about 100 miles since the valve job. I will probably go to the Volvo dealership this week to hook it up to a computer to find and perhaps fix the two big problems (light and running), but any advice on it would be helpful. Someone said there was a complicated method to get the check engine light off, but I could not find it in the archives. Could anyone steer me to it?
Thanks,
James
