Front Turn/Parking bulbs 200 1983

On my 1983 242 the front turn signal/ parking light bulbs are hard to get to stay working. The manuals call for 21W BA15S (1073) and 5W BA15S (67) but these are straight pin bulbs and they don't fit in my assemblies. The only bulbs that work are 1157 which have offset pins. Is there a difference in years or localities in light assemblies? What are the correct bulbs for my car? Are new light assemblies available?
