Fixed! Bad ground... 200 1984

Fixed it. The broken wire coming off the alternator turned out to be the ground wire. Followed it to the block, where it was bolted. I manually grounded that alternator terminal, and all the warning lights came on with the key. Yes!!!

Interesting finding from Bentley: if the battery light doesn't come on with the key, for ANY reason (even if it is simply burned out), the system won't charge the battery. I didn't know that before today.

Anyway, I fixed the ground wire, jump-started the car, and drove it hard for 20 minutes. All charged up. Good to go.

Thanks!
