My car would sometimes stop and would not restart for up to 40 minutes or so. Also, the overdrive would click out and would be difficult to re engage
I found that fuses were running hot - they would burn your fingers if touched
Did the following:
1) resoldered fuel pump & overdrive relays & drilled holes in casing.
cleaned above male connectors and all fuses male connectors wiith emory paper.
Fuses now run cool and overdrive works faultlessly.
but still had intermittent stalling problems
2) In engine bay, noticed oil film on both sides of engine: this I traced to:
on left the rubber hose from exhaust to intercooler loose - retightened
on right, the oil was coming from a breather on (I think its)the O2 sensor- I extended this pipe to outside of the engine bay.
3) I then degunked the engine - and a month later its still clean
Now that the engine was clean, it was easy to ID potential problems
4) I visually checked all vacuum hoses and where perished, cut back - the hoses involved were to the petrol regulator, the charcoal canister and to some form of control valve, front left of engine, connected to the exhaust
5) I also found a number of wires where the coating had perished - I recovered these.
So far, no more stalling problems
